49ers vs Redskins Week 12 MNF Betting Picks
The two most discussed dual-threat NFL quarterbacks from last year will battle in the Week 12 Monday Night Football 49ers-Redskins contest. ESPN will nationally televise the 49ers and Redskins from Washington at 8:30 p.m. in the MNF game of the week.
Last year both the 49ers and Redskins made the playoffs behind their rookie dual-threat quarterbacks, and San Francisco ended up in the Super Bowl. The skills of San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick and Washington’s Robert Griffin III had NFL analysts considering whether the league was heading toward a new style of offensive football.
Entering the MNF 49ers-Redskins game, though, both Kaepernick and Griffin are encountering what could be called sophomore slumps this season
Washington’s Griffin, who is returning from off-season knee surgery, started the season a little slowly, but he has played better of late, including a three-touchdown passing performance against Minnesota in Week 10. Griffin has thrown for 2,450 yards and 12 scores through Washington’s first nine games, but his rushing numbers are well down at 301 yards and zero touchdowns.
Kaepernick’s numbers are also down from the last half of last season when he grabbed the starting QB spot in San Francisco. Kaepernick has thrown for just 1,675 yards and nine touchdowns for the 49ers through nine games, and he has rushed for just 310 yards and three TDs. San Francisco ranks last in the NFL in passing yards per game.
Entering the 49ers-Redskins game, San Francisco is still in the hunt for a playoff berth at 6-3 through Week 10. Washington isn’t out of the playoff chase either, despite a 3-6 record through Week 10, as the Redskins are only 1.5 games out of first place in the struggling NFC East Division.
